The Answer Is Always Get Rid of It

So the garage is my Sisyphean project. No matter how many times I organize it, it’s messy again in no time. Do you have spaces like that in your house?

I’ve felt this way before with dresser drawers, coat closets, kitchen cabinets , etc. And you know what? The answer is simple: there is TOO MUCH IN THE SPACE! It’s at it’s saturation point and that’s why it’s impossible to keep tidy. If you dread having to put something away, that’s a giveaway the space needs some love.

So, I tell myself each time I set out to improve a space, large or small, “The answer is GET RID OF IT.”

I don’t mean ALL of it - but something has to go. You don’t need to go full Kondo and dump it all in the center of the room but you can always start somewhere. Try opening your overly stuffed coffee cup space and challenge yourself to say goodbye to two. What about your water bottles? Do you always use the same ones? Reusable grocery bags? Towels? Sheets? (And of course, get rid of it responsibly and as environmentally-friendly as possible.)

So anyways, I write all this to psych myself up for heading back into the garage right now to purge. My motivation is a minimal garage so that means I need to focus, simmer down now, and GET RID OF IT.

Taking a deep breath, thanking my items and finding a new home for them - let’s do this.
