Simple and Chic Gallery Wall on a Budget

I find gallery walls intimidating. I am in awe of people who can mix sizes, styles, patterns, woods, textiles all over the place and it looks amazing! That’s beyond my skill set.

But I still wanted a simple gallery of frames in our hallway to celebrate family. I didn’t want to spend a huge amount of money on the project but I needed 6 frames! Luckily I saw a post by Helmick Hacienda about these awesome inexpensive frames. I love that the mat is a true white with clean black lines for the frame.

The frames come in a couple sizes but I chose 11 x 14 frames with 5 x 7 prints since that worked with the space. Michaels always has sales and coupons on their site so check for one before you purchase. I got these for 25% off the already reasonable price of $11.99.

We selected six special pics and then edited them into black and white. You can do this easily in your iPhone or get a little fancier and do it in Lightroom. I uploaded them to Shutterfly and chose a pearl finish to make them a bit special. A pearl 5x7 is about $1.79 but Shutterfly often runs promotions so you might get lucky with a discount there too.

All in all we spent under $60 dollars on this project and I love the way it turned out. It makes me smile to see our family when I head down the hall.

FYI: The hardest part is the spacing and hanging but we used painters tape and a level to lay out our rows. We trimmed a post-it for the spacer and used it to make we stayed on target.

This is a fun project and you’ll be so happy when it’s done.
